The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection has begun accepting proposals for its Recreational Trail Program Grants through July 1.
The grants may be given to any nonprofits, municipalities, state departments, or tribal governments for programs like construction of new trails, trail access for people with disabilities, safety upgrades, or property purchases.
Previous awardees include Goodwin College in East Hartford getting $220,468 to expand its South Meadow Trails system, and East Hampton receiving $400,000 for expansion of the Air Line State Park Trail.
