DEEP accepting firewood lottery applications

The Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection is accepting applications through Feb. 1 for its annual state forest firewood lottery.

Standing trees and downed wood will be sold to winners in designated lots for $60. The winner will be announced March 15, and permits issues in October.

The lottery is designed to give Connecticut residents an opportunity to use the renewable, locally grown fuel sources available in the state forests.

Applications can be downloaded from the forestry section of www.ct.gov/deep.
