The state’s lead economic development agency has announced a new initiative to better promote business and foster collaboration statewide.
The Department of Economic and Community Development has agreed to work in conjunction with the Connecticut Metropolitan Regional Chambers Alliance, which represents eight major chambers in the state including the MetroHartford Alliance and the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce. With the agreement, staff of the different organizations will meet regularly to improve communication, share resources, develop marketing strategies and compare legislative agendas.
DECD commissioner Joan McDonald said a key to the state’s economic development strategy is increased collaboration and that the goal of the agreement is to “build consensus” on high-priority issues. At many chamber marketing and member events, the DECD will be granted exhibitor space as the state pushes its outreach effort to businesses.
