Joseph R. Mele Jr. was appointed senior vice president of operations at Gerber Scientific Inc. in South Windsor. Mele is currently partner at Lean Horizons Consulting.

Robinson & Cole in Hartford welcomed the following as new associates: Kevin T. Henry; Adam Anderson; Rita B. Trivedi; B. Moses Vargas; John M. Tanksi; Mathew P. Jasinski; Scott E. The Connecticut Business & Industry Association hired Jesmin K. Basanti as staff attorney for the government affairs team. Basanti was previously intern at Betsy Gara & Associates.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Hartford named Sam Gray president and chief executive officer. Gray was most recently acting president and CEO of the organization.

Gerald R. Tavernier Jr. joined Rockville Bank in Vernon as vice president and commercial banking officer. Tavernier was formerly senior credit underwriter at UPS Capital Business Credit.

Robert L. Rispoli, attorney at Clayman, Tapper & Baram in Bloomfield, was elected to the Windsor Town Council.

The Hospital for Special Care in New Britain named Kevin J. Felice and Charles H. Whitaker as directors of the neuromuscular/ALS clinic. Felice is also professor of neurology at UConn’s School of Medicine. Whitaker is assistant professor of neurology at UConn’s School of Medicine.

Mark A. Kucia was promoted at Rockville Bank in Vernon to senior vice president and commercial banking market executive. Kucia was previously vice president and senior commercial real estate lender.

BL Companies in Hartford hired Thomas Motsko as technical manager in the environmental department. Motsko was project manager at Coler & Colantonio before joining the company.

Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford appointed Radha Shyam Biswas as a specialist in pediatrics. Biswas served as a fellow in pediatric endocrinology at The New Children’s Hospital before joining the hospital.

Adarsh A. Jha was hired as specialist in internal medicine at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford. Jha was previously resident in internal medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Hartford Life named Andy Marks managing director of sales. Marks was formerly head of sales at Canada Life.

Michael A. O’Brien was appointed president and CEO at Duncaster Life Care Retirement Community in Bloomfield. O’Brien was formerly president and CEO at the Connecticut Alliance for Long Term Care.
