Day Pitney partner Edgardo Ramos has won confirmation as a federal judge in New York’s Southern District, authorities say.
Ramos, nominated by President Barack Obama, won unanimous Senate approval on Monday.
He is scheduled to take the bench in early 2012.
The Connecticut Hispanic Bar Association (CHBA), on which Ramos serves as a director, hailed his appointment.
“Edgardo’s nomination and confirmation are well-deserved based on his experience and reputation as a jurist,” said CHBA President Virginia McGarrity, president of the CHBA.

Ramos has been a Day Pitney partner since since 2002. He previously served as an assistant U.S. attorney in New York’s Eastern District for a decade.
