Day Pitney adds 16 associates

Day Pitney LLP has added eight associates in its Connecticut offices, part of the firm’s largest-ever group of 16 new associates.

Joining the Hartford office are:

Anthony Bongiorni, financial services department. Prior to joining Day Pitney, Bongiorni was a judicial clerk to Judge A. Ponsor, U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Bongiorni received his J.D. from the Northwestern University School of Law and his B.A. from Brown University. 

Kaitlin A. Canty, commercial litigation department. Canty was a judicial clerk to the Honorable Robert E. Beach of the Connecticut Appellate Court and was a judicial intern for Judge Peter C. Dorsey of the U.S. District Court in the District of Connecticut in 2009. A summer apprentice with Day Pitney in 2010, Canty received her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and her B.A. summa cum laude from Union College. 

Emily J. Kagan, corporate and business law department. Kagan received her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and her B.A. with honors from McGill University. She was a summer apprentice with Day Pitney in 2011, and has been an extern with the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health and with Aetna, Inc., and an intern with the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization at Yale Law School.

Kristin K. MacDougall, commercial litigation department. MacDougall received her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and her B.S. summa cum laude from the University of Rhode Island, Kingston. She was previously a legal intern with the Montpelier Insurance Group and the Executive Office of Immigration Review in Hartford. MacDougall interned with the U.S. Department of State in Geneva in 2010.

Walter Menjivar, commercial litigation department. Menjivar was a summer apprentice with Day Pitney in 2010 and 2011. He received his J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and his B.A. from Vanderbilt University. 

Eric J. TeVelde, intellectual property department. TeVelde received his J.D. cum laude from the Western New England University School of Law, where he was editor of the law review, and his B.S. from the University of Virginia. He also has a masters of engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and previously worked as a scientist with Pfizer, Inc., and Sanofi Aventis Pharmaceuticals.

Ailla Wasstrom-Welz, real estate, environmental and land use department. Prior to joining Day Pitney, Wasstrom-Welz was a sessional attorney for the Legislative Commissioners’ Office in Hartford. She received her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and her B.A. cum laude from St. Michael’s College. She is secretary and green sub-committee chairwoman of the Brooklyn Conservation/Aquifer Protection Commission.

Joining the firm in West Hartford is Laura Schuyler, individual clients department. Prior to joining Day Pitney, Schuyler was a judicial clerk to Judge C. Ian McLachlan, Connecticut Supreme Court. She was a summer apprentice with Day Pitney in 2010. Schuyler received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and her B.A. from Amherst College. She was a summer intern in 2009 for Judge Holly B. Fitzsimmons of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.

Eight other associates joined the firm’s New York and New Jersey offices.
