David Mitchell jumps to Avon’s COCC

Connecticut technology exec David Mitchell has joined Avon financial technology vendor COCC Inc. as chief partnership officer.

Until recently, Mitchell was executive vice president and chief product officer for Glastonbury financial-software vendor Open Solutions Inc.

His departure comes three weeks after Open Solutions announced its $1 billion sale to check-processing and cash-machine servicing giant Fiserv.

He also was Open Solutions’ marketing chief and general manager of its e-commerce and strategic products divisions.

Mitchell’s COCC title reflects the company’s preference for identifying its clients as “partners,” a spokesman said Wednesday.

Founded in 1967 as Connecticut Online Computer Center, COCC provides computing services for banks and credit unions. It recently announced plans to relocate its 41-year-old Avon headquarters to Southington.

COCC has 400 employees and $70 million in annual sales. It declined to specify earnings.

Most COCC clients are in Massachusetts, but it also serves Connecticut, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.
