DATTCO introduces electric truck

New Britain transportation company DATTCO has added an electric truck to its new line of fuel efficient vehicles.

The eStar is a 100 percent electric truck has a battery that can be swapped out in 20 minutes, enabling the fleet operator to run without having to stop and charge the vehicle. DATTCO estimates the truck can save up to 10 tons annually in greenhouse gas emissions.

“Companies are beginning to realize that electric vehicles pay off financially while helping them to reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, and reduce dependency on oil,” said Zach Heir, DATTCO sales and eStar representative, in a press release.

DATTCO’s other green initiatives include double-decked motor coaches, fuel efficiency diesel-engine upgrades, reduced idling and computer assisted routing.
