Global food company Danone, which plans to close its Naugatuck operations, is slated to lay off all 129 employees between March and July, according to a Department of Labor filing.
The Paris-based food-products company, producing brands including Delight creamer, Acqua water and Silk Soymilk, is permanently closing its YoCrunch manufacturing facilities at 80 Rado Drive and moving operations to another production facility in the U.S., a spokesman said Thursday. The new location was not specified.
Danone will terminate employees between March 1, 2019 and July 1, the company said in a WARN notice filed with the Labor Department. The notice is required by federal law for employers of 100 or more to provide advance notification of plant closings and mass layoffs.
The closure, originally announced in May, will affect numerous machine operators, material handlers, lab technicians, shipping foreman, several supervisors and others. It was unclear Friday when the plant would officially close.
Danone said it will help workers find new employment both internally and externally.
“After careful consideration, we are moving the production of YoCrunch yogurt from Naugatuck to another facility within our production network in the U.S.,” a spokesman said in a statement. “We deeply regret the impact this planned closure will have on our employees, our supply partners and this community.”
