ATMI Inc. posted a flat first-quarter profit despite record sales for the Danbury maker of wafer-thin components for semiconductors, flat panel and other electronics.
ATMI earned $8 million, or 25 cents a share, in the three months ended March 31, down from $8.7 million, or 27 cents a share, the same quarter a year ago.
First-quarter sales hit a record $100.7 million vs. $85.3 million last year.
ATMI Chairman and CEO Doug Neugold said recently that he expects the better-than-expected yearly start to the business to continue through the second quarter.
