The former chief financial officer of a Danbury software company has pleaded guilty to a federal wire fraud charge, admitting she stole more than $739,000 from her employer over a seven-year span.
Pamela Aguilar, 65, of Shelton entered her guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Kari A. Dooley in Bridgeport on Thursday.
Aguilar had served as CFO of MaxQ Technologies Inc., where prosecutors say she exploited her control over company finances to siphon funds through a variety of methods — wire transfers to personal bank accounts, cash withdrawals, checks, and PayPal and credit card payments made for her own benefit.
To conceal the scheme, she provided false weekly cash reports and fabricated monthly financial statements to the company’s chief executive officer, authorities said.
In all, prosecutors and Aguilar’s defense agreed that she stole $739,466.44 between 2018 and 2025 from the company, according to court documents.
The wire fraud count carries a maximum sentence of 20 years. Under the terms of the plea agreement, the parties agreed to a sentencing range of 27 to 33 months of imprisonment, though the court is not bound by that calculation. Aguilar must also pay restitution of at least $739,466.44. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 27.
Aguilar was indicted in October 2025 on five counts of wire fraud. At her arraignment, prosecutor Ray Miller told the court that Aguilar had confessed to the FBI. She pleaded not guilty at the time and was released on a $50,000 unsecured bond, which the court continued pending sentencing.
The FBI investigated the case. Aguilar is represented by Michael Petrik Jr. of the federal public defender’s office in Hartford.
