Cybrexa appoints new chief medical officer

Cybrexa Therapeutics, a New Haven-based, clinical-stage oncology biotechnology company, recently named Dr. Michael N. Needle as the company’s new chief medical officer.

Cybrexa’s drug pipeline aims to combat breast, ovarian and non-small cell lung cancers and a range of other tumors. The company is developing novel tumor-targeting peptide drug conjugate therapeutics.

Needle is a board-certified hematologist and oncologist, and he will oversee the continued development of the company’s drug pipeline.

Needle replaces Dr. Arthur DeCillis, who will be transitioning back into a consulting role.

Needle has more than 20 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Cybrexa, he served as CMO for Aveo Oncology, Array BioPharma, Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation and Consortium, and he was also vice president, pediatric strategy, at Celgene.

Real estate agent named to ‘100 Heroes Served Club’

Phil Giampietro, a sales associate with Coldwell Banker Realty in Cheshire, was recently honored by Homes for Heroes by being named to its “100 Heroes Served Club.”

Since 2009, the Minnesota-based Homes for Heroes has helped more than 57,000 people save over $107 million on their real estate transactions, according to the organization. The organization helps workers such as firefighters, law enforcement, military, healthcare workers/EMS and teachers afford homes.

When Giampietro works with clients who fit the criteria, he helps them directly through the program via a reduction in his commission to provide money back on the buying or selling of their home. So far, he has given $250,076 to the charitable organization and helped 116 heroes.

According to an announcement, Giampietro is the No. 1 donor in Connecticut. Giampietro is a retired police sergeant who served in law enforcement for 25 years.
