CTTransit reached a tentative agreement with its bus drivers and maintenance workers, averting a potential strike.
Terms were not disclosed.
CTTransit General Manager David A. Lee said a Jan. 16 ratification vote is set for the settlement with the union representing some 750 bus drivers and maintenance employees in Hartford, New Haven, and Stamford.
The parties have agreed to extend the terms of the current contract, including the no-strike clause, until after that date, he said.
Lee said the union has assured it will urge members to ratify the pact.
The transit company faced a Tuesday deadline to avoid a strike, which would have been the first in more than 35 years.
