CT’s Zygo wins $2M+ order for lens assemblies

Middlefield technology maker Zygo Corp. will supply more than $2 milion worth of high-precision optical systems to a major medical-device maker for equipment to be used in eye surgery.

Zygo did not name the customer for whom it will supply lens assemblies used in ophthalmic laser surgery made by its Electro-Optics facility in Tucson, Ariz.

Optical Systems President John Stack said in a statement Tuesday the order is part of a new customer program.

“This program award is affirmation of our strengths in design and manufacturing of high precision objective lenses for use in advanced medical devices, as well as our ability to meet strict FDA guidelines and protocols,” Stack said.
