The United States Mint has chosen Weir Farm to represent Connecticut as part of a new series of quarters being minted to honor national parks and other national sites.
The Mint plans to issue 56 “America the Beautiful” quarters with designs of parks and sites in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the Northern Mariana Islands.
Connecticut’s quarter will feature the 60-acre farmstead in Wilton and Ridgefield. It was home to three generations of American artists including Julian Alden Weir, a leading figure in the development of American Impressionism. (AP)
