CT’s Terex selling roadbuilding assets to Fayat

Terex Corp. says it’s selling its roadbuilding-equipment production operations in Oklahoma and Brazil to its French rival, to reposition the Westport heavy-equipment maker.

Terex’s asphalt paver, reclaimer stabilizer and material transfer product lines built in Oklahoma City, and asphalt plants and pavers manufactured in Porto Allegre, Brazil, are among assets being sold to France’s Fayat Group, the company said. Family-owned Fayat is known for its Bomag and Marini line of roadbuilders and earthmovers.

Terms of the deal set to close in the first quarter weren’t disclosed.

However, Terex Chairman and CEO Ron DeFeo said the company booked an approximately $15 million charge to fourth-quarter 2012 earnings related to disposition of the Oklahoma City assets.
