Gov. Dannel P. Malloy is scheduled to attend a Thursday groundbreaking at Southern Connecticut State University for a $3.9 million renovation to transform its former student center into the new home to its business school.
The ceremony takes place at 2:15 p.m. at 501 Crescent St. in New Haven.
The 23,000-square-foot new building will house business school offices, classrooms, meeting rooms and workshop space, according to SCSU’s Web site.
When completed, the school will vacate dilapidated Seabury Hall. Built in 1956 as a dormitory and later used as the student center, Seabury has an eventual date with a wrecking ball, the school said.
