Connecticut’s sales tax-free week starts on Sunday, Aug. 21, and continues through Saturday, Aug. 27, during which time customers can enjoy a break from the sales-and-use tax on clothing and footwear costing less than $100.
The state’s sales tax of 6.35% will be suspended for those items during the weeklong tax holiday, which is now in its 22nd year. The exemption applies to each product costing less than $100, regardless of how many are on the same invoice.
This is the first time the state has held two tax holidays during a single calendar year. A similar sales tax exemption, approved by the General Assembly, took place in April.
