Former Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine is taking over as intercollegiate athletic director at Fairfield’s Sacred Heart University.
The private college is due to introduce Valentine, a Stamford native, at 11 a.m. Tuesday as successor to outgoing director C. Donald Cook.
Valentine spent a decades-long Major League Baseball career as a player for teams including the L.A. Dodgers and N.Y. Mets, and manager of the Chiba Lotte Marines in Japan, the Texas Rangers, the Mets and, most recently, the Red Sox.
He has also been a broadcaster for ESPN and NBC radio and owns a successful restaurant in Stamford.
