A new report from real estate analytics company ATTOM found that 1.3% of homes across the nation, or one in 76, is vacant.
That’s the same as in the fourth quarter of last year and up slightly from a year ago.
Connecticut’s vacancy rate is the fifth-lowest in the country, at 0.56%, according to the report. The other lowest rates are in New Hampshire (0.34%), Vermont (0.41%), New Jersey (0.49%) and Idaho (0.52%).
ATTOM’s analysis, released Thursday, matched publicly recorded real estate data against monthly updated vacancy data.
The report also found that 212,268 residential properties in the U.S. are in the process of foreclosure in the first quarter of 2025, down 1.5% from the fourth quarter of last year and down 12.6% from the first quarter of 2024.
The states with the highest residential vacancy rates are Oklahoma (2.41%), Kansas (2.34%), Missouri (2.18%), Alabama (2.16%) and West Virginia (2.09%).
