Oxford’s RBC Bearings Inc. says it paid about $2.6 million for a California maker of precision gears and parts sold to aerospace and industrial markets.
RBC Chairman and CEO Michael J. Hartnett says Western Precision Aero LLC, of Garden Grove, Calif., complements its own roster of engineered plain, roller and ball bearings for the industrial, defense and aerospace industries.
WPA’s 2012 net sales were about $5 million.
RBC deal announcement comes day after it announced plans to shut later this month its Houston bearings production plant and shifting large-bearings production to its South Carolina plant, among others.
