Photronics Inc. board member George Macricostas has been named executive chairman of the Sacramento, Calif., data-services company he started more than a decade after leaving the Brookfield imaging-mask maker started by his father.
Macricostas assumes the post at RagingWire Data Centers from his father, Constantine “Deno” Macricostas, who takes over as vice chairman, RagingWire said Wednesday. RagingWire’s data centers are in California and northern Virginia.
Deno Macricostas, a member of the Quinnipiac University Business Hall of Fame, founded Photronics in a garage in 1969. Imaging masks are glass plates onto which the circuitry for semiconductors are etched so they can be transferred onto silicon wafers.
George Macricostas will be responsible for RagingWire Data Centers’ overall strategic direction and will provide visionary leadership and financial oversight.
Father and son co-founded RagingWire in 2000 with Yatish Mishra. Since then, George Macricostas has held various posts, including chief executive officer and executive vice chairman.
Previously, George Macricostas was a senior vice president at Photronics, where he was responsible for all aspects of the company’s information-technology infrastructure.
George Macricostas is a member of the board of directors of the Jane Goodall Institute and was a finalist in the 2007 and 2009 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year program.
