CT’s Phillips named president of U.S. mayors

Thomas Phillips, president and CEO of Connecticut-based Capital Workforce Partners, was selected the president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Workforce Development Council in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.

“We are delighted that Tom Phillips, president and CEO, Capital Workforce Partners, Inc., has been selected by his peers to serve as president of this important Conference of Mayors affiliate organization, and we look forward to his strong leadership and vision as we strive to put Americans back to work,” said Tom Cochran, U.S. Conference of Mayors CEO and executive director, in a statement.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors is a non-partisan group made up of mayors from cities with populations of 30,000 or more. Its Workforce Development Council works on employment issues in urban areas, including job development, out-of-school youth, year-round youth training including summer jobs, adult training, dislocated workers, welfare reform, welfare-to-work, labor shortages, basic education and GED.
