Future housing construction showed signs of ebbing in October, with most communities issuing fewer permits that month than a year earlier, a new state survey shows.
However, the overall pace of housing construction across the state is still tracking well ahead of 2013, state Department of Economic and Community Development data shows.
There were 433 single- and multi-family housing permits issued in October vs. 517 the same month last year, DECD said.
That’s on the heels of a doubling of permits issued in September compared to September 2013.
Construction of all kinds typically succumbs to cold temperatures and snow in the final months of the year.
For the first 10 months of this year, 4,084 have been issued, up 17.7 percent from the 3,469 issued the first 10 months of 2013.
