Connecticut Secretary of the State Denise Merrill says she is embracing Facebook, Twitter and other online social networks to help residents at home and abroad connect with her agency’s information and services.
“We have seen recently in the Middle East how important social networking sites can be for communicating and organizing where people are striving for Democracy,” Merrill said in a statement Friday.
“This is a new area for state government, so we will be posting and tweeting as much as we can,” she said. “This will also be an effective way to reach out to the younger generation of voters who use these sites often.”
