Connecticut’s Dannel P. Malloy is taking the lead in promoting regional rail initiatives for the Coalition of Northeastern Governors.
CONEG is a nonpartisan association of the governors of the seven northeastern states – Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Malloy attended Monday the group’s 36th conference in Burlington, Vt.
CONEG aims, among other things, to create a plan to offer Northeast commuter rail travel; ensure federal funding for an integrated transportation system; and to coordinate the region’s passenger and freight rail systems.
