CT’s Lydall to invest $18.5M in N.C.

Manchester manufacturer Lydall Inc. plans to spend $18.5 million to expand its North Carolina plant that makes automotive heat and vibration dampeners, creating an extra 170 jobs over the next three years, Newsobserver.com reports.

Lydall also is getting a $300,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund to assist with the upgrade to its Hamptonville, N.C. facility that churns out materials to protect passengers from extreme heat and insulate them from noise and vibration.

The plant employs 500. It will lease additional space in a new facility in Yadkinville, about 25 miles west of Winston-Salem.

The new jobs will pay an average annual wage of $25,294 plus benefits, which is below the Yadkin County average of $27,716.
