CT’s Leonardi seated in NAIC post

Connecticut Insurance Commissioner Thomas B. Leonardi has been elected to a post on the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, giving him a seat on its executive committee.

Leonardi will serve as secretary for the body’s Northeast Zone, consisting of Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

He was zone members’ choice for the post, automatically qualifying him as a key insider in NAIC’s leadership body, his office said Tuesday.

It is but the latest in a half dozen other assignments Leonardi has in the organization, including the International Insurance Relations Committee Financial Regulation Standards & Accreditation  Committee, and the International Insurance Relations Leadership Group.

Earlier this month, Leonardi was seated on the Treasury Department’s Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance, the policy table that has a crucial hand steering the nation’s financial-services industry away from future meltdowns.
