CT’s Landworks Realty joins Buffett’s network

Farmington Valley real estate broker Gary Emerito has merged his firm into the New England branch of billionaire Warren Buffett’s nationwide residential realty network, authorities say.

The Landworks Realty founder-principal and his 15 or so agents have joined Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties in Wallingford, President and CEO Candace Adams said Tuesday.

Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. entered the region’s realty market in April 2012, buying out Prudential Connecticut Realty.

This is BHHS New England’s first acquisition since then, said spokeswoman Danielle Hicks, who declined to reveal transaction terms.

Landworks’ two Farmington and Simsbury offices are being absorbed into existing offices BHHS New England has in those towns, Hicks said.

BHHS New England had about 1,600 brokers before this deal added Emerito and his team, Hicks said.

In addition to selling houses, Emerito takes over as director of new homes and land for his new employer. That means he will be prospecting for newly built or proposed housing developments in need of buyers, Hicks said.

“Joining forces with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties will greatly benefit our clients as well as our agents,” Emerito said in a statement.

Based in Minneapolis, BHHS claims to be the second-largest home realty services firm in the U.S. Its 26 brands and more than 16,000 real estate professionals operate in 20 states.
