Private-equity pioneer J.H. Whitney Capital Partners LLC in New Canaan has acquired a Wisconsin maker of disposable patient gowns, bibs and other anti-infection accessories.
Whitney paid an undisclosed sum for TIDI Products LLC, of Neenah, Wis.
TIDI’s core products include patient exam gowns and draping, dental bibs and towels, tray covers, examination table paper, gauze sponges and thermometer sheaths marketed to the nation’s leading healthcare distributors.
Established in 1946 by the industrialist and philanthropist, John Hay “Jock” Whitney, J.H. Whitney says it was one of the first U.S. private equity firms and is often credited with pioneering the development of the private equity industry.
Its specialty is providing capital to small and middle market companies with strong growth prospects in industries including consumer, healthcare, specialty manufacturing and business services.
