CT’s IMS Health buys NJ’s Semantelli Corp.

Danbury’s IMS Health bought a New Jersey specialist in analyzing healthcare-related, social-media content to broaden its own roster of marketing and business-intelligence services for healthcare clients.

Financial terms for its purchase of Semantelli Corp., of Bridgewater, N.J., weren’t disclosed.

Semantelli offers clients a set of cloud-based tools that automate the collection of healthcare-specific social media content, in effect, an online consumer listening post, authorities said. This allows hospitals, physicians, pharmaceutical makers, insurers and healthcare stakeholders to monitor in real time and act on the feedback being generated via social media about their products, services and quality of care.

“This acquisition marks an important step in expanding IMS’s capabilities in the social media management and analytics space, where there is accelerating demand for solutions that help clients take advantage of new channels to connect more actively with healthcare professionals and consumers” said Stefan Linn, IMS Health’s senior vice president for strategy and global pharmaceutical solutions.
