The pace of Connecticut’s new housing construction quickened in June, with permit totals for most towns one third greater in the first six months than the first-half of 2013, state data shows.
The state Department of Economic and Community Development said Friday data compiled from the U.S. Census Bureau show 777 housing permits were issued in 128 cities and towns reporting.
That’s double the 389 issued the same month a year ago, and 32 percent greater than the 1,887-permit count in the first half of last year.
Of the permit total, the greatest percentage continue to be for construction of housing with five or more living units such as apartments and condominiums, the DECD data show.
