Connecticut communities issued 116 new-housing permits in February, less than half the number issued a month ago, authorities say.
Of the total, 75 were for one-family dwellings; the rest for buildings containing two or more individual living units, the state Department of Community and Economic Development said Wednesday.
In January, the 104 communities surveyed for their permit data by the Census Bureau counted 255 new permits for single- and multi-family dwellings, That brings the two-month tally to 371, DECD said.
In Feb. 2014, there were 180 permits issued.
DECD also announced last month a reduction in the Census Bureau’s previous sampling population of 128 Connecticut cities and towns renders year-ago comparison invalid.
