A Washington D.C. area maker of surveillance software got a $3 million liquidity boost from Farmington financier Horizon Technology Finance Corp. that will enable it to expand, authorities say.
John F. Bruno, finance chief for VidSys Inc., of Vienna, Va., said Wednesday Horizon’s venture loan strengthens “our ability to reach key corporate milestones and continue to grow our business.”
According to VidSys’ homepage, its core product is known in the industry as a physical information management system.
Police and other first-responders, as well as top executives and their security teams, VidSys said, use its software platforms that feed real-time video surveillance and other tracking data from security sensors directly to their mobile devices to instantly size up and respond to threats to personal safety and property.
Baltimore, for instance, uses such a setup, linked to surveillance systems from the city’s police, fire and rapid-transit agencies, the Maryland state highway department, and the FBI, to identify and respond immediately to stopped vehicles and traffic congestion, among other episodes, according to a security-industry article posted on its homepage.
Horizon Tech has regional offices in Reston, Va., and Walnut Creek, Calif.
