Stamford’s Harman International knows a good market when it hears one.
The iconic, 64-year-old loudspeaker and home-audio system maker that later branched into luxury-auto sound systems, has thrown its hat into the burgeoning market for premium headphones. It is a market dominated by Bose, Monster Beats By Dr. Dre and others.
Harman announced Tuesday a line of Harman Kardon music and noise-canceling headphones compatible with the ubiquitous iPhone, iPad, iPod portable devices.
Prices range from $100 to $150 for two in-ear models, to $200 to $300 for three over-ear versions.
The units are sold exclusively through Apple retail stores, authorities said.
