Amsterdam it isn’t. But Connecticut will take a small step in that direction this weekend during the state’s first medical marijuana convention.
Medical card holders will judge various strains in a “cannabis cup” event at 1175 State St. in New Haven, which will bring vendors, providers and patients together.
Organizer MarijuanaDoctors.com says the expo will be one of the largest sources of information on the “green rush” hitting states in the Northeast.
Scheduled events during the three-day exposition include seminars on growing techniques and cannabis cooking.
Between 30 and 40 vendors are expected to have tables at the event, including building trades, agriculture, legal and financial consultants and representatives of producers and dispensaries.
The event comes as state health officials are preparing to award cultivation and dispensary licenses to a crowded field of competitors that applied in November.
