Edible Arrangements in Wallingford says it will increase the number of franchised locations selling sculpted fresh-fruit gift baskets globally by more than one third over the next two years.
Founder and CEO Tariq Farid said Tuesday 150 new locations will open this year, and another 200 in 2012.
In coming weeks, 19 stores will open in 10 states and two Canadian Provinces. Two international locations are expected to open soon in Saudi Arabia and another in Oman, Farid said.
The privately held company began franchising in 2001, two years after Tariq and brother Kamran Farid opened their doors in East Haven. Today, the chain counts nearly 1,000 outlets worldwide.
