Connecticut is home to three of the biggest economic development agencies in New England, according to MassHighTech.com.
The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, with a 2010 budget of $13.1 million, ranks fifth out of 14 regional and intrastate economic development agencies. MassHighTech reports.
MetroHartford Alliance in Hartford was 8th largest based on its 2010 budget of $4.5 million.
The Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise region in New London was 12th, with a $1.1 million budget.
The Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts in Springfield was 9th, at $3.2 million
Massachusetts Port Authority was No. 1, with a budget last year of $358.4 million.
MassEcon was the smallest, at $550,000.
