CT’s Clean Energy Fund names Garcia chief

Bryan Garcia of Cromwell is returning after a four-year hiatus to the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund, this time as president.

Garcia, who was on the fund’s staff for 6 ½ years until 2007, starts his $150,000-a-year job Tuesday, authorities announced Thursday.

He succeeds Lise Dondy who retired last October after five years at the helm.  Dale Hedman has been acting president since then, Clean Energy spokeswoman Emily Smith said.

He spent the past four years as program director of the Yale Center for Business and the Environment, being run at the time by Daniel C. Esty.

Esty is now commissioner of the soon-to-be-renamed Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

The Clean Energy Fund is under the umbrella of Connecticut Innovations Inc., the state’s quasi-public technology investment arm. Its role is promoting development and use of sustainable, environmentally friendly energy sources for the state and its residents.

Garcia holds a BS in political economy of natural resources from the University of California, Berkeley, a master’s in public administration and business administration from New York University, and a master of environmental management degree from Yale.
