New home construction fell sharply across Connecticut in August, new data shows.
The 104 cities and towns surveyed by the U.S. Census Bureau tallied 241 permits to erect new single- and multi-family dwellings, down from 633 permits issued in July, according to the state Department of Economic and Community Services.
Permit volume last month was the lowest since 116 permits were issued in February, data showed.
Through the first eight months of this year, those communities issued 3,301 home-building permits, DECD reported Friday, citing Census data.
