CT’s ATMI sets record 3Q net, sales

Danbury semiconductor-components maker ATMI Inc. posted record third-quarter revenues and profits.

For three months ended Sept. 30, ATMI netted $14.4 million, or 44 cents a diluted share, up from $8 million, or 25 cents a share, netted the year-ago period.

Last November’s deal in which ATMI regained control of global distribution of its proprietary technology from a former Japanese partner contributed smartly to its latest earnings through more customer orders and higher royalties, CEO Doug Neugold said.

Third-quarter revenues climbed to $108.8 million vs. $95 million last year.

Earlier this month, ATMI announced it is building another plant in South Korea to better serve its Asian microchip customers.

ATMI’s photolithography technology and equipment is used to overlay microcircuitry onto silicon wafers.
