Stamford relief agency AmeriCares is extending $500,000 to providers of free health care to U.S. victims of natural disasters, including last weekend’s hurricane.
AmeriCares says its U.S. Disaster Recovery Initiative will award grants of $10,000 to $100,000 to agencies on the East Coast, Midwest and the South that provide medical and dental care for the uninsured, mental health and psychosocial support services, as well as preparedness for future disasters.
Parts of the Midwest and South were ravaged earlier this year by tornadoes and severe flooding.
AmeriCares will award funding on a first-come, first-served basis through Oct. 31.
