CT’s $12M share for health-threat readiness

Connecticut is getting more than $12 million as its share of a nearly a billion federal dollars to improve readiness and outcomes in case of a public health threat, authorities say.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said it has awarded more than $971 million to continue improving preparedness and health outcomes for a wide range of public health threats in every state, and eight U.S. territories, including Puerto Rico.

Health care systems and coalitions and public health systems in Connecticut’s four largest metro areas — including Hartford, Bridgeport and New Haven — will split the funding to encourage greater cooperation between them, authorities say.
