CTfastrak to receive $7M for Manchester expansion

The Connecticut State Bond Commission next week is expected to award $7 million for CTfastrak to buy buses for an expansion into East Hartford and Manchester, said Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on Tuesday.

The 9.4-mile dedicated CTfastrack busway has 10 stations between Hartford and New Britain, along a rail line. That portion of the bus service cost $570 million in federal and state funds to build.

The expansion east of the Connecticut River will use the existing carpool lanes on Interstate 84.

The bond commission earlier this year awarded $500,000 to the Connecticut Department of Transportation to study how CTfastrak could be expanded into East Hartford and Manchester.
