CTCPA honors Benedetto, Johnson

The Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA) has honored Marie L. Benedetto, CPA, MST and Carl R. Johnson, CPA as co-recipients of the CTCPA’s Jack Brooks Leadership Award for their service as co-facilitators of the CTCPA Strategic Planning Initiative.

The pair accepted the award at the CTCPA annual meeting held last month at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, where Benedetto was also elected to serve as President-elect for the organization’s 2019-20 activity year.

Benedetto is the principal of Marie L. Benedetto, CPA, MST, Innovative Business Solutions in Middlefield, where she also lives. She earned a BS in accounting from Central Connecticut State University and an MS in taxation from the University of Hartford. She has also served CTCPA as treasurer and director-at-large.

Johnson is president of CRJ Consulting in Farmington, where he lives. He holds a BS in accounting and business management from Susquehanna University, and is a former managing partner of the public accounting firm of Blum Shapiro. The honor’s namesake, the late Jack Brooks, was executive director of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants from 1964 to 1996.

The Connecticut Data Collaborative has named Elizabeth Grim, MSW, MPH, director of community impact. Grim previously was a senior evaluation consultant for the Consultation Center at Yale. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Virginia and master’s degrees in public health and social work from the University of Michigan. The Connecticut Data Collaborative is a public-private partnership that advocates for public availability of open and accessible data. It serves nonprofits, advocates, policymakers, community groups and funders in using data to drive policy and improve programs and services, budgeting and decision-making at the state, regional and municipal levels.
