The Connecticut Clean Energy Finance & Investment Authority and Yale University will run a $1.8 million federal study to help lower solar costs, based on the Solarize Connecticut initiative.
The U.S. Department of Energy grant for the Solar Energy Evolution Diffusion Study seeks to keep non-hardware costs in check in education, acquiring, and deploying residential solar systems.
The award is based on CEFIA’s Solarize Connecticut program, which seeks to reduce costs through a group purchasing model, saving 20-30 percent on total system costs.
CEFIA and Yale are partnering with New York University and the nonprofit SmartPower to complete the study.
