CT wealth barely grew in 1Q

Connecticut residents’ personal incomes rose just 0.6 percent in the first quarter, slightly below the national average and the lowest in New England, the federal government said Friday.

U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis released data showing total personal income for Connecticut in the quarter was about $193 billion, barely an increase from the fourth quarter of 2009 when personal income totaled about $192 billion.

Connecticut ranked among the bottom 10 states for overall personal income growth in the quarter, and had the lowest gain of all the New England states.

Only Montana, Colorado, Arkansas, Illinois, South Dakota, and North Dakota feared worse than Connecticut in overall growth, data shows.
