Maine regulators have blessed Connecticut Water Service Inc.’s proposed $53.5 million buyout of Aqua Maine Inc., authorities say.
Connecticut Water in Clinton, this state’s largest public water utility, said the Maine Public Utilities Commission issued approval of its plans to purchase the Maine subsidiary of Aqua America Inc.
Aqua Maine owns 11 water systems in Maine and serves about 48,000 people in 17 communities statewide.
The deal is set to close just after the start of the new year.
