CT Water buys Madison water system

Clinton water utility Connecticut Water Co. has taken over a small Madison system fed up with the complexities of quality water service, officials say.

The sale of Green Springs Water Co. was for undisclosed terms.

Connecticut Water will fold Green Springs’ approximately 90 customers into the more than 12,000 water users the utility already was serving in Madison, said Connecticut Water Vice President Terrance P. O’Neill.

Its first investment will be installation of a generator for back-up power and customer water meters, O’Neill said. He did not provide a cost or timetable.

Overall, Connecticut’s largest water utility serves more than 300,000 people in 55 towns.
