CT wants to detour ex-road super’s pension

Connecticut’s top attorney is moving to revoke some or all of the public pension of a former Redding town highway superintendent recently convicted of larceny.

State Attorney General George Jepsen announced Monday the filing of a complaint in Hartford Superior Court to revoke or reduce the pension of Bruce L. Sanford, who pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree larceny and was sentenced to five years in prison on Jan. 17.

Sanford worked for Redding from July 1990 to July 2011, authorities said.

Since 2008, Connecticut law permits the state to pursue pension reduction or revocation against any state or municipal worker who commits a felony meant to defraud an individual to obtain a profit or other gain.
